Can Bearded Dragons Drink Tap Water?

Can Bearded Dragons Drink Tap Water?

Yes, they can. However, if you’re using tap water for your bearded dragon, make sure to use some of the available water conditioners.

These will remove chloramines and chlorine and unwanted minerals from your pet’s water at the same time providing essential ions and electrolytes necessary for the bearded dragon’s hydration. You can purchase water conditioners such as Reptisafe online or from a pet store.

You may also want to use filtered bottled water to keep your pet hydrated and healthy. Filters remove the harmful chemicals that can be dangerous for your bearded dragon, at the same time helping them stay safe and hydrated.

Native to Australian desert areas, bearded dragons are very well adapted to dry conditions. But, when in captivity, these lizards need clean, fresh water every day to stay hydrated and healthy.

Hi Deb — Depending on the water quality in your area, it’s possible that nothing will happen, or the dragon may suffer negative effects related to chlorine/chloramine poisoning.
