We have decided that we will no longer be selling butterworms. This was not a decision that we made lightly, and we have been debating on this for awhile now. We feel that in many ways, they are a subpar feeder; they are high in fat (as are waxworms), and while this is okay as part of a well-balanced diet, they are also cost-prohibitive. As they are imported from outside the US, this limits our control when it comes to their quality, and we only wish to supply the best quality feeders. For the benefits that they do offer, we feel it is not worth the cost to you or the risks associated with continuing to offer them to you as our valued customer.

What are butterworms? Butterworms are also known as Tebo worms, the larval stage of the Chilean moth (Chilecomadia moorei). Butterworms are commonly used as fish bait, but they also make great treats for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.

Our Mixed Butterworms offer a range of sizes from about 1/2" to 1 1/2". Their hassle-free storage make butterworms a great value. And pets love them!

Nutrition Facts:

Moisture — 60.2%

Protein — 15.5%

Fat — 29.4%

Ash — 0.8%

Fiber — 1.4%

Due to their naturally high fat content, butterworms should only be given as treats, never as a staple feeder. If you’re looking for a staple feeder, we recommend dubia roaches and NutriGrubs instead.

Butterworms should always be dusted with calcium powder prior to feeding.

Care Instructions:

To store your butterworms, keep them in the door of your fridge (approx. 42-45°F). At these temperatures the worm enters a state of hibernation and won’t require any food or water for up to 3 months.
