Can My Blue Tongue Skink Eat Pinkie Mice?

Can My Blue Tongue Skink Eat Pinkie Mice?

Yes, your blue tongue skink may eat pinkie mice as an occasional treat.

You will find that some places recommend pinkie mice to be used for if your pet skink needs a calcium boost such as if they have just laid eggs or are recovering from being sick. There are other ways you can supplement the diet of a blue tongue skink without using pinkie mice such as by using well gut-loaded feeder insects, or even canned dog food that is known to be a safer alternative to pinkie mice. If you do feed pinkie mice to your skink it is recommended that you do not offer them more than once or twice every two weeks as these are high in fat and can cause obesity as well as digestion problems.

Hi DC Reptiles — Because different individuals grow at different rates, the rule of thumb is to use feeders no larger than1.5x the width of the corn snake at its widest point. When you’re starting with a new snake, it’s best to ask the breeder/pet store what size of rodent they’ve been feeding. For information on how often to feed your corn snake, visit our corn snake care sheet: https://reptilesupply.com/blogs/snake-care-sheets/how-to-care-for-your-corn-snake

Hi, I might be getting a corn snake. But the one I want is a juvenile and I don’t know what size of mouse/rat to feed.
