This group includes species such as the Savannah monitor, Nile monitor, and Ackie monitor, as well as many others. They are primarily active during the day and have a mainly carnivorous diet of insects, fish, birds, and mammals. Monitor lizards can be anywhere between 9 inches to 10 feet long, and generally live between 15-30 years.
