The Exo Terra Heat Mat serves as an effective terrarium substrate heater, mimicking the natural warmth of sun-heated surfaces. It is an ideal choice as a primary or secondary heat source, particularly for nocturnal and crepuscular reptiles.

Usage Guidelines:

The Exo Terra Heat Mat bonds permanently to the terrarium, ensuring excellent heat conduction. It is essential to pair it with a thermostat like the Exo Terra Thermostat to regulate the basking temperature accurately.

Install the Exo Terra Heat Mat on either the far left or right side of the terrarium to establish a thermal gradient. It should occupy about one-third of the floor area. For best results, use with a shallow (1-2") substrate layer. If the substrate is deeper, consider an overhead heating option like the Exo Terra Halogen Basking Spot or Ceramic Heater instead.

Attach rubber spacers beneath the enclosure to promote proper ventilation around the heat mat and minimize the chance of overheating.
