Small Hornworms FREE SHIPPING
This listing is ideal for customers purchasing a single item. If you’re planning to buy multiple products, consider our standard Small Hornworms option available here.
*NOTE: Our Small Hornworms will arrive as eggs or extremely tiny larvae. They won’t grow to the size of our medium hornworms and are intended for tiny pets. The eggs or small worms may not be visible in the cup. We ship them at this stage since most buyers have small animals to feed, and delays in shipping (even by 2-3 days) could result in worms growing too large if sent fully developed. Hornworms grow rapidly!
PLEASE NOTE: These small hornworms are packaged in an 8oz “budget” cup, unique to ReptileSupply.com. They aren’t meant to grow very big in this container, so we advise feeding them to your pet promptly to prevent overcrowding or food depletion.
Hornworms, the larvae of the Hawk Moth (Manduca sexta), are notorious garden pests in the wild, feeding on plants like tomatoes, eggplants, and tobacco. However, in captivity, they serve as excellent nutrition for reptiles, amphibians, and certain invertebrates that eat insects or have mixed diets.
CAUTION: Avoid feeding wild-caught hornworms to your pets. The plants they consume, such as tomato leaves, are toxic and can harm your animal.
How frequently should hornworms be fed?
Hornworms can be a regular part of your pet’s diet, but they shouldn’t be the only food source. Pair them with other insects for balance. Feeding too many hornworms, which are lower in protein and fiber, may cause loose stools. A diverse diet ensures better nutrition and healthier digestion.
Is calcium dusting necessary for hornworms?
No, hornworms naturally have a favorable calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, so there’s no need to dust them with calcium supplements before feeding.
Guidelines for hornworm care:
Each cup includes 12-24 worms and sufficient food to support growth up to 1-2" in about a week. Though they start small, their growth is rapid!
The provided cup serves as a complete habitat. After arrival, invert the cup so the lid is at the bottom. The hornworms will climb to the food via the screen, while waste collects on the lid for simple cleanup. Ensure the lid area has proper ventilation for airflow.
We ship smaller worms to give you a fresh batch and control over their growth rate. For quick growth, maintain a temperature above 80°F; for moderate growth, keep at 72°F; for slower development, store at 50°F.
