Zoo Med PowerSun UV 100w
Reptiles rely on external heat sources, UVB rays, and bright visible light to maintain their health and well-being. As ectothermic creatures, they cannot generate their own body heat and depend on environmental warmth, such as sunlight, to regulate their temperature. This heat is crucial for digestion, bodily functions, and overall vitality. Since they can't produce heat internally, we must supply it through specialized heat lamps.
UVB, a vital component of natural sunlight, is essential for most reptiles. It supports strong bone development and contributes to various critical physiological processes.
The Zoo Med PowerSun UV is an innovative self-ballasted mercury vapor bulb that delivers UVA, UVB, and heat in a single unit! By combining multiple wavelengths, this lamp closely mimics natural sunlight, providing an optimal environment for your reptile.
Usage Guidelines:
Mount the Zoo Med PowerSun UV in a wire lamp fixture to avoid overheating. Position the lamp on one side of the terrarium to establish a proper temperature gradient. Refer to the UVI chart provided below and adjust the lamp’s height based on your reptile’s specific UVB requirements. If needed, supplement with an additional heat source like the Zoo Med Repti Tuff Halogen Lamp to reach the ideal basking temperature.
Replace the Zoo Med PowerSun UV every 6 months for consistent performance. For accurate monitoring, pair it with a Zoo Med Digital UV Index Radiometer or a Solarmeter 6.5.

Reptiles have varying UVB needs. Consult the Arcadia UV Index Lighting Guide to find the appropriate UVI for your pet’s basking zone.
Distance is measured from the bulb tip to the basking spot or reptile. UVI values are approximate and can decrease by 30-40% when the bulb is placed over a mesh screen.
