Important: This bulb does not emit UVB light.

Reptiles, being cold-blooded creatures, rely on external heat sources to control their body temperature. This process, known as thermoregulation, is vital for digestion, immune health, and overall well-being. Providing a dedicated warm zone in their habitat is best achieved with a reliable heat lamp designed for reptiles.

The Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp is a specialized incandescent bulb featuring a unique double reflector that concentrates 35% more heat and light compared to standard spot bulbs, creating an effective basking area.

Each lamp comes with a manufacturer’s warranty for a minimum lifespan of 3 months or approximately 2,000 hours of use.

Usage Instructions:

Secure the Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp in a ceramic-socket dome fixture with a wattage rating higher than the bulb. If placed within the enclosure, use a protective cage to avoid direct contact burns. Position the lamp at one end of the habitat to establish a temperature gradient. For larger reptiles, consider using multiple bulbs together for uniform heating.

To extend the bulb’s life, handle it with gloves during installation to keep skin oils off the glass, and minimize movement when the lamp is active.

For optimal performance, pair with the Zoo Med Digital Thermometer to monitor basking spot temperatures. Place the thermometer probe directly on the basking surface for accurate readings. If the area is too cold, opt for a higher wattage bulb; if too warm, a plug-in dimmer can adjust the output.

To protect the bulb and ensure longevity, connect it to a surge protector such as the Zilla 24/7 Digital Timer Power Center.

Note: The Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp emits a focused, narrow beam. Maintain a minimum distance of 8" from the reptile to avoid hazardous hot spots that could cause burns. For reptiles longer than 8" from snout to vent or with an 8" coiled diameter, use a group of bulbs positioned closely to distribute heat evenly, supporting proper circulation and thermoregulation.
