Important: This bulb does not emit UVB light.

Reptiles, being ectothermic creatures, rely on external heat sources like sunlight to regulate their body temperature. This warmth is crucial for digestion, overall health, and proper bodily functions. Since they cannot generate their own heat, providing an appropriate heat source through heat lamps is essential for their well-being.

The Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp is a specialized incandescent bulb designed for basking, featuring an innovative double reflector that concentrates 35% more light and heat compared to standard spot bulbs.

The manufacturer offers a 3-month warranty on this bulb.

Approximate bulb lifespan: 2,000 hours or a minimum of 3 months

Usage Guidelines:

Place the Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp in a ceramic-socket dome fixture with a wattage rating higher than the bulb. If installed within the enclosure, use a protective cage to avoid direct contact burns. Position the lamp at one end of the enclosure to establish a temperature gradient. For larger reptiles, consider using multiple bulbs in a cluster for uniform heating.

To extend the bulb’s life, use gloves during installation to keep skin oils off the glass, and minimize movement of the lamp, particularly when it’s powered on.

For optimal performance, pair with the Zoo Med Digital Thermometer to monitor basking area temperatures. Place the thermometer probe directly on the basking spot for precise readings. If the temperature is too low, opt for a higher wattage bulb; if too high, use a dimmer to adjust the output.

For prolonged bulb life, connect to a surge protector such as the Zilla 24/7 Digital Timer Power Center.

Note: The Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp emits a focused narrow beam. Maintain a minimum distance of 8" to avoid hazardous hot spots that could harm your reptile. For species exceeding 8" in snout-to-vent length or coiled diameter, use multiple bulbs in close proximity to ensure even heat distribution, supporting healthy circulation and thermoregulation.
