Can Bearded Dragons Eat Eggs?

Eggs are nutritious; they contain a good amount of protein, calcium, vitamins, and essential minerals. Eggs are rich in various vitamins such as vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K, and they also contain minerals such as zinc, folate, calcium, selenium, magnesium, and others.

Nonetheless, because they are so rich in these elements, it can be easy to overdo it, so you should only give eggs to your dragon occasionally. Overfeeding with foods that are high in protein can lead to health problems such as gout, which is why eggs should be used as a treat or for when you have a situation in which your dragon is suffering from malnutrition. Eggs can also be used as an emergency protein replacement should not be in a position where you cannot get live feeders.

The primary protein source for any bearded dragon should always be live feeders, eggs, and other protein sources that are not live bugs should only be used as treats or in certain situations.

If using quail eggs, you can give a dragon a whole egg per feeding, but when using chicken eggs, you should only give your dragon half an egg at a time at most. Organic, free-range eggs should be the only ones that are given to your pet.

When preparing eggs to give to your dragon, making either boiled eggs or scrambled eggs is fine; some people may find one easier than the other, but bear in mind that your dragon may also have a preference between the two. Usually, there would be a difference in nutrition when making scrambled or boiled eggs. But since you cannot use oil, which will give your dragon terrible diarrhea, or butter, milk, or any dairy product since dragons are lactose intolerant, nutrition-wise, there is no difference between scrambled or boiled eggs.
