You should never feed your dragon dead crickets. When a cricket dies it loses the ability to retain moisture in its body, and that moisture starts to evaporate, which takes with it a lot of the nutrients that it once had. That means that even though your dragon is eating, it will not keep your dragon healthy as there are no nutrients to absorb.

However, pre-killed dried or canned crickets are safe to use and can be helpful for keeping your bearded dragon fed in an emergency.
