Thermostats control the amount of heat that a heating element produces, helping ensure that that your pet reptile enjoys stable basking temperatures and reducing the risk of burns or overheating.

There are two types of thermostats:

Proportional (on/off) thermostats turn the heating element on and off as needed to maintain the target temperature. They are compatible with heat mats, heat tape, ceramic heat emitters, and radiant heat panels.

Non-proportional (dimming) thermostats dim the heating element to maintain the target temperature. They are compatible with all of the above, as well as deep heat projectors and halogen heat bulbs. They also may prolong the life of the heating element.
