Repashy SuperCal NoD, 3 oz
Captive reptile diets are often low in calcium, which can cause health problems related to calcium deficiency. While providing sufficient UVB allows reptiles to make their own vitamin D, they can't make their own calcium. Vitamin D only helps reptiles absorb it. So when reptiles get plenty of UVB but not enough calciu, they can still get Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD).
Repashy SuperCal NoD is a micro-fine calcium supplement powder without vitamin D. This makes it a suitable regular calcium supplement for use with reptiles that have frequent access to appropriate, high-quality UVB lighting or unfiltered sunlight.
Repashy's calcium carbonate is mined from the Mohave Desert in California, where it was deposited 300 million years ago during the Mississippian Age as a large graveyard of marine animals. This calcium is micro ground to an average size of 3.5 microns, enabling it to stick extremely well to feeder insects.
Note: Even when a reptile is getting enough UVB, it can still be beneficial to provide occasional supplementary vitamin D. For best results, when using a plain calcium supplement, occasionally use low-D supplement like Repashy Supercal LoD as part of the rotation.
